BROADBAND EXPANSION
Charles Count y significantly expanded rural broadband through the North Nanjemoy and Neighborhood
Broadband Buildout projects, connecting hundreds of
previously underserved homes.
EXPANSION OF EMERGENCY
SERVICES
Investments in emergency services included the recruitment and training of additional EMTs, preparation of a
new station in Pinefield, and significant upgrades to radio
systems.
CLIMATE REPORT CARD AND
RESILIENCE INITIATIVES
AFFORDABLE HOUSING INITIATIVES
The county launched the process to develop its first-ever
Climate Report Card and the Charles County Resilience
Authority obtained several grants to expand sustainability initiatives.
Through Housing Services, Charles County launched new
programs and funding to increase af fordable housing
availability, particularly targeting seniors and low-income
residents.
ACQUISITION OF OLD SEARS STORE
FOR NEW SPORTS AND WELLNESS
COMPLEX
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT GROWTH
Charles Count y purchased the old Sears store at St.
Charles Towne Mall to convert into a Sports and Wellness
complex, which will feature a competition-size pool and
other fitness amenities.
VANGO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
ENHANCEMENTS
VanGO introduced new routes, improved ADA accessibility, and expanded service hours to better serve the
county’s transportation needs.

The Economic Development Department reported strong
commercial growth and job creation across the county,
and promising new opportunities for expansion with the
Western Technology Corridor and defense spending at
Naval Surface Warfare Center in Indian Head.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND
TRANSPARENCY
The launch of enhanced media outreach, public surveys,
expanded community engagement and use of digital tools
is improving access and public engagement with county
government.
