QUALITY
OF LIFE
CHILDREN AND FAMILY RESOURCE ACADEMY
The Media Services Division partnered with the CCACCYF to implement the Children
and Family Resource Academy. This pilot program was offered from January through
March to county residents who identify as parents, caregivers, and youth supporters to provide information about the variety of community-based programs and
supports available for school aged-children. 12 participants participated in the
6-week program which included certification in Youth Mental Health First Aid; an
opportunity to meet, network, and talk with community resource providers; and
the completion of a class project which focused on supporting the CCACCYF in
gaining community engagement to update their strategic plan. The program will
culminate with an Academy-hosted community celebration in June to promote
awareness of resources available for youth and the adults who support them in
Charles County.
CHARLES COUNTY ADVOCACY COUNCIL FOR
CHILDREN, YOUTH, AND FAMILIES
With the exception of advocacy and information, the CCACCYF does not provide
human services directly but contracts with public and private agencies to provide
a variety of services for which the CCACCYF has received funding. Funding for
programs offered through the CCACCYF originate from the Governor's Office for
Children, the Maryland State Department of Education, and the Department of
Juvenile Services.
The overall mission is to improve the quality of life for Charles County children,
youth, and families by ensuring that human service programs are plentiful, accessible, and excellent. Working with citizens, government, public and private human
service agencies, the Local Management Board strives to make Charles County a
better place by aligning our focus with the Maryland's Results for Child Well-Being.
