TRAVEL & TOURISM REVENUE
Visitors to Charles County are crucial for generating revenue because they drive sales, increase
brand awareness, and foster community engagement, all of which contribute to success.
The county continues to experience growth in revenues generated by travel and tourism initiatives. In 2023 (most current data),
Charles County realized $240,800,000 in tourism industry
sales (industry sales include lodging, food and beverage, retail,
recreation, transportation).
The Tourism Division plans and develops many
events for not only our local community, but also
to attract visitors from other areas.
Over 1 million visitors stayed in hotels and/or spent money at
local businesses, restaurants, and other local amenities in 2023.

WELCOME CENTER
The Crain Memorial Welcome Center located in Newburg served
more than 104,600 customers in 2023. Travel Counselors help
visitors develop a custom itinerary, learn about local events, get
directions to their next stop or reser ve lodging. This is a great
resource to plan a staycation, weekend outing, or vacation to
Charles County.

CLASSIC CARB SHOW
In 2024 staff produced the Charles County Classic
Carb Show in par tnership with The Shops at
Waldorf and DMV Rods & Classics Car Club. This
family friendly event featured a food truck festival
and classic car show. The event yielded an estimated 4,500 attendees. Staff will continue to
produce signature events that both benefit residents and attract overnight visitors.
