Charles County Government Annual Report • 2024
PUBLIC WORKS & INFRASTRUCTURE
Charles County Government is developing plans, policies, and strategies to bolster adaptation, resilience, and mitigation to the impacts of climate change. The objective is to design and construct the
RESIDENTIAL DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM established by the Resilience Authority.
The county has received hundreds of drainage related complaints over the
last few years from residents. When extreme weather occurs, residents
may experience stormwater drainage issues and flooding that can
impact their proper ties. There are numerous reasons why these
kinds of issues can occur. The increase in frequency and intensity
of extreme weather events is expected to continue, and even
worsen in the future, primarily due to climate change.
