Commissioner President Reuben B. Collins, II, Esq.
It is with great pride and gratitude that I present to you the 2024 Charles County
Government Annual Report. This year has been a remarkable period of progress,
resilience, and innovation for our community. Our collective efforts, grounded in
transparency, collaboration, and a deep commitment to service, have yielded tremendous results across every corner of the County.
Our Board of County Commissioners took important actions in 2024 to drive
forward our vision of a more connected, resilient, and equitable Charles County. We
adopted a balanced Fiscal Year 2025 Budget and maintained our AAA bond rating
for the eighth consecutive year, demonstrating strong fiscal management, healthy
reser ves, and strategic economic grow th. By carefully managing resources and
leveraging American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, we supported economic recovery, strengthened local businesses, and built a foundation for long-term prosperity.
We prioritized the well-being of our residents through significant enhancements to
VanGO public transportation, new and improved parks and recreation facilities, and bold actions to increase affordable housing options for seniors and
working families. Our commitment to sustainability was further demonstrated with
expanded sustainability initiatives, helping Charles County lead in environmental stewardship.
At the hear t of these achievements is a profound par tnership bet ween count y
government and the community we proudly serve. Together, we are building a thriving Charles County — a place where every resident can succeed, diversity fosters
belonging, and the future holds even greater promise for all who call it home.
