A LOOK AHEAD IN 2025
BUILD ON THE SUCCESSES OF 2024
Charles County Government remains focused on continuous
improvement, innovation, and community engagement. In 2025, we are
launching several important initiatives designed to enhance customer service,
strengthen government operations, and lay the groundwork for a vibrant, resilient future.
These efforts reflect our commitment to transparency, operational excellence, and delivering high-quality services to all who live, work, and invest in Charles County.
CLASSIFICATION AND COMPENSATION STUDY
A comprehensive Classification and Compensation Study is
currently underway to ensure the Count y remains competitive in
attracting and retaining a highly qualified workforce. This effort will
review all positions and salary structures, providing recommendations to promote fairness, equity, and recruitment and retention of
an exceptional workforce.
WATER AND SEWER E-BILLING
By spring 2025, Charles County residents and businesses will benefit from the launch of a new Water and Sewer E-Billing system.
This modern ser vice will make it easier and more convenient for
customers to receive bills electronically, manage their accounts
online, and reduce paper waste.
SEE.CLICK.REPORT RESIDENT REPORTING SYSTEM
In spring 2025, Charles County will introduce See.Click.Report, an
online platform that empowers residents to easily report non-emergency issues — from potholes to streetlight outages — directly to
county staff. The system will improve responsiveness, transparency,
and community participation.
The county will officially launch its Comprehensive Plan update
process in 2025. This critical planning initiative will engage the
communit y in shaping the long-term vision for growth, land use,
transportation, environmental stewardship, and economic development in Charles County for years to come.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT ONLINE DASHBOARD
To further enhance transparency and accountability, Charles County
will debut an online Performance Measurement Dashboard in
2025. This new tool will allow residents to easily track the county’s
progress on key initiatives, department performance goals, and service deliver y metrics that provide accountabilit y to the public by
reporting measurable outcomes for service delivery.
In 2025, Charles County is opening a brandnew home for the Department of Recreation,
Parks, and Tourism on Centennial Street in
the hear t of La Plata. This central location
provides expanded services, improved accessibility, and strengthen connections with the
community.
NEW FLOW EQUALIZATION BASIN
The Department of Public Works is completing construction on a new Flow Equalization
Basin to improve wastewater management,
enhance system capacity, and support future
growth, ensuring environmental protection and
service reliability.
NEW LA PLATA LIBRARY
Charles County will break ground on a brandnew, s t ate-of-t he-ar t La Plata Library !
Designed with expanded space, modern technology, and vibrant new programming, the
future library will be a cornerstone for learning, creativity, and community connection for
generations to come.
OPENING OF PINEFIELD EMERGENCY
SERVICES STATION
Charles Count y will open a new Emergency
Services Station in Pinefield, expanding
access to critical public safet y resources.
This modern facility will enhance emergency
response times, support the growing needs of
the community, and ensure faster, more efficient service for residents in the surrounding
areas.
