All camps require a Summer Camp Registration Packet (available online with camp registration) to be completed.
Kayak and Fishing Camp
Student Citizens Academy
Every day is an adventure at Kayak and Fishing Camp. Learn to kayak and
fish the freshwater tidal area of Mattawoman Creek. Paddle skills will
build, and fishing techniques will be explored. Campers will kayak and fish
each day! Led by Atlantic Kayak Company. Basic swimming skills
preferred. Friday will be used in the event of inclement weather.
The Student Citizens Academy is a one-week program designed for
Charles County youth who want to learn more about local government
operations; collaborate with other youth leaders in their community; and
begin networking with professionals from a variety of fields. Over the
course of the week, you and your cohort will see firsthand how county
government operates, including visiting unique county operations sites;
meeting with partner agencies; and attending civic meetings and events.
Using this newly gained knowledge, participants will work together on a
project that will be presented to camp leaders, employees, and families
at the end of the week!
