THERAPEUTIC RECREATION PROGRAMS — Pre-Registration Required
Calm Cove Sensory Space
Come entertain all your senses including touch, sight, taste, sound, and smell
in a controlled and intentionally created space. The Calm Cove provides multisensory resources to support sensory needs to enable participants to engage in
fun activities. The space can be calming or stimulating depending on the needs
of those present and will be available for reservations upon request as well. Come
visit and satisfy your sensory needs with us!

Peoples with disabilities learn basic gymnastics skills on men’s and women’s gymnastics events to enhance balance, movement, and coordination in a social and

SMASR Play for Life Adaptive Sports: Bocce Ball
SMASR Adapted Sport and Recreation and Charles County Therapeutic Recreation
are partnering to bring adaptive sports to our disability community! For early fall,
bocce will serve as the featured sport. Participants will learn the fundamentals of
bocce through skill development, teamwork, and friendly competition, with the
session culminating in a tournament experience. In addition to bocce, participants
will also have opportunities to discover all the fun activities and recreational features
the park has to offer, creating a fun, active, and inclusive experience focused on
movement, friendship, and community.

SMASR: Can Play Adapted Soccer
Southern Maryland Adapted Sport & Recreation is proud to announce our upcoming
fall programming at Mitchell Elementary School. This 5-week program is designed
to provide inclusive recreation opportunities that support individuals with varying
abilities and special healthcare needs through structured, engaging, and fun activities. Participants will learn and develop soccer skills through movement activities,
ball control, kicking, teamwork, and game play in a supportive environment. Sessions
will focus on skill development, coordination, confidence, and social interaction
while providing opportunities for all participants to experience success and have fun.
Resident Fee: $60; Non-Resident: $65

Cozy Creations: Fall Arts & Crafts Social
Ten Pin Bowling
Get ready for a cozy evening filled with creativity, connection, and fall fun! Join us
for Cozy Creations, a relaxing fall-themed arts & crafts social where participants can
enjoy seasonal crafts, music, light refreshments, and time with friends in a welcoming
and inclusive environment. Participants will have the opportunity to create festive
fall crafts, explore their creativity, and socialize with peers while celebrating the cozy
spirit of the season. This program encourages self-expression, community engagement, and hands-on fun for all ability levels. Come enjoy warm fall vibes, creative
activities, and an evening full of laughter, friendship, and creativity!
Special Olympics Bowling is a training program to teach new bowlers the
skill of bowling and prepare experienced bowlers for competition. Athletes
and Unified Partners welcome! Bowlers can participate in the regional and
state tournament as individuals or with a Unified partner.
