SUNFLOWER FESTIVAL • AUGUST 30-31
Visiting the sunflowers at Serenity Farm is a great way
to brighten your day. Each year the Farm Heritage
Conservancy hosts the Sunflower Festival at Serenity
Farm, providing six acres of a U-Pick sunflower experience, making it an ideal location to capture the perfect
family photo or selfie among the rows of flowers. Along
with the blooms, there will be a host of family-friendly
activities, and vendors to engage all audiences.

Choosing to spend your weekend in Charles County’s
outdoor spaces is always a win! Shlagel Farms is a popular pick-your-own pumpkin location that offers you an
opportunity to grab a gorgeous gourd to decorate your
home with. Be sure to check out Shlagel’s social media
to stay up to date on their produce, meat, and plant
offerings. You may have only come there for the pumpkins, but you will leave with a bag full of delicious local
items!
CHARLES COUNTY FAIR • SEPTEMBER 11-14
The Charles County Fair will be held for its 101st year
this September! Like every year, this event promises
nods to Charles County’s agricultural roots with its traditional displays and exhibits, delicious local food vendors, and family-friendly events. Visitors and residents
who are new to the county are welcome to come and
engage with community members and to learn about
the county’s history at this long-standing event.
HAUNTED HISTORY
Did you know that Charles County is one of the oldest
counties in Maryland? The county’s long history inspires
legends and lore surrounding some of the notable figures and historic sites in the area. Spend an afternoon
visiting Historic Port Tobacco Village or the Dr. Samuel
Mudd House and see if you can find any paranormal
presences moving through the hallways of these original structures.
