YOUTH FIELD HOCKEY LEAGUE
Welcome to the Charles County Youth Field Hockey League, an exciting initiative designed to promote athleticism, teamwork, and sportsmanship among the young residents of our Charles County. This league aims to provide a structured and enjoyable environment where
children and teenagers can learn and excel in the sport of field hockey. Our mission is to foster a love for field hockey while emphasizing
character development, physical fitness, and the joy of friendly competition. Through our league, we strive to instill values of discipline,
respect, and teamwork that will benefit our participants both on and off the field. The County-Wide Youth Field Hockey League is structured to accommodate players of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced athletes. Participants will be organized into age-appropriate
divisions to ensure fair and competitive play:
• Mini Division (Ages 5-8): Emphasis is on developing basic field hockey skills such as dribbling, passing, and shooting. Coaches and volunteers provide gentle
guidance and encouragement, ensuring each participant feels confident and capable on the field.
• Junior Division (Ages 9-10): Players will continue to build upon their foundational skills while also learning more advanced techniques. Coaches with expertise in
field hockey will guide participants through structured practices designed to improve dribbling, passing, shooting, and defensive strategies.
• Intermediate Division (Ages 11-12): This division serves as a bridge between foundational learning and more competitive play, preparing players for higher levels
of competition while emphasizing continued skill development and sportsmanship. Players will focus on refining their technical skills and mastering more complex
aspects of field hockey. Coaches, who are experienced in the sport, will lead structured practices and drills aimed at enhancing dribbling techniques, passing
accuracy, defensive strategies, and goal-scoring proficiency.
• Senior Division (Ages 13-14): Designed for athletes who are dedicated to advancing their skills, competing at a high level, and preparing for collegiate or competitive play. In the Senior Division, players will refine and master advanced field hockey skills under the guidance of experienced coaches. Emphasis is placed on
enhancing stickhandling techniques, precision passing, strategic positioning, defensive tactics, and goal-scoring proficiency through rigorous training sessions
and specialized drills.
Program Highlights:
• Skill Development: Coaches and volunteers will provide expert instruction to help players improve their technical abilities and game understanding.
• Uniform: All players will receive a uniform. It is your responsibility to select the correct uniform size. Additional charge for new jersey.
• League Matches: Scheduled league matches will be held regularly throughout the season, offering participants the chance to apply their skills in competitive
settings. Matches will be held as participation numbers dictate.
• Sportsmanship: Emphasis on fair play, respect for opponents, and teamwork, promoting a positive and supportive atmosphere for all participants.
• Practice: Practices will be held throughout the season beginning August 11.
Required Equipment:
• Regulation Field Hockey Stick (sticks are available if necessary)
• Shin Guards (specific to field hockey)
• Mouth Guard
• Cleats or Turf Shoes
• Goggles (may be worn by all field players but are not required)

Registration Fee: $90
Registration Deadline: July 16 • Save $15 if registered by June 25!
League age is as of September 1, 2025 • Must be 5 years old by September 1, 2025
