Settled in the 17th century, Port Tobacco grew to
become one of Mar yland's largest international
seaports in the years before the American Revolution.
The town served as the seat of Charles County from
1727-1895, but its history began with the precolonial
Native American Villages of Potopaco to the current
residents of the town.
Explore the histor y of Por t Tobacco Village with
a docent guided tour through the Por t Tobacco
Courthouse, Stagg Hall and Burch House. Bring the
whole family for a journey back in time to learn more
about how this once bustling port along the Potomac
River, became the smallest incorporated town in
Maryland.

The 2025 Mixtape Concert Series: a three-concert
lineup featuring popular countr y, alt-rock, and
R&B ar tists tak ing place at Regenc y Furniture
Stadium in Waldorf. Join us for our premiere concert
starring the Eli Young Band, taking place on May
17th, followed by the Plain White T’s, performing
on August 9th. Be sure to follow Explore Charles
